"Simon undertook my brief to carve a Welsh slate memorial plaque for my late parents. Given the size restrictions of the 14 x 12 inch plaque, it was a bit of a challenge to find a design layout and meaningful words that fitted well in the space. I had an input to the design process, Simon was patient and informative and helped me work through an emotional process to reach a successful outcome. I was very pleased that the finished plaque which honoured my parents perfectly. It has subtle presence set in the village church yard and represents a simple, graceful and timeless memorial which brings much comfort to us every time we visit."
"We have commissioned two family headstones from Simon as well as some smaller pieces, including two sets of bookends and a stunning circular table with lettering carved all around the side of a single circle of stone. All are wonderful pieces.
Simon is a pleasure to deal with as he consults fully throughout the process, makes helpful suggestions and is totally reliable. But above all, he is a master craftsman, taking great care and pride in his work; a rare find nowadays. His knowledge and experience of lettering is extensive , and this is demonstrated in the elegant and beautiful lettering he produces in his works, both big and small."
"We went to Simon with a specific idea for a slate commemorative stone for our son. He immediately understood the concept we were after, made suggestions regarding the most suitable slate, and provided drawings of how the finished design would look. He also liaised with the parish council to obtain the necessary permissions, and we were able to see the work in progress during the following months. Simon set the finished stone in situ, and we met him to see the completed work in place. We couldn’t be happier with the result, and Simon’s attention to detail and care throughout made the whole process so much less stressful. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his excellent work to anyone who wants a bespoke hand crafted letter-carved object."
